Algunos arquitectos, como Adolf Loos, se expresaron con una claridad sin parangón en cuanto a la distinción entre arte y arquitectura. Gunnar Asplund habló, con una gran sabiduría, sobre el estilo de un momento y un lugar; Bruno Taut sobre el color y Jacques-François Blondel sobre el carácter de la arquitectura. En este libro, los autores han construido sobre esta antigua sabiduría y la han aplicado a situaciones contemporáneas con nuevas ideas: el mismo proceso, en otras palabras, que se emplea a la hora de hacer arquitectura. Los arquitectos han intentado describir la esencia de la arquitectura como mínimo desde la antigüedad. Si este libro es capaz de ayudar al lector a que aprecie lo que puede ser un maravilloso (y emocionante) juego arquitectónico, se habrá conseguido uno de sus objetivos.

Resumen: Al trabajar en distintos géneros artísticos, el territorio que cubre mi obra es amplio y he favorecido sin reservas la exploración de lugares distantes entre sí y la confrontación de lo dispar. Y así, viendo todo en conjunto, es fácil encontrarse con obras de muy diverso carácter, tanto en su matriz expresiva como en sus motivaciones o en su apariencia final. Algunas se basan en un concepto premeditado y otras, en cambio, son resultado de un dejarse llevar por procesos de espontaneidad expresiva; algunas se ciñen al rigor geométrico y otras, en cambio, fluyen orgánicamente; con frecuencia conviven la abstracción y la figuración así como la austeridad y el juego, la necesidad y el capricho.

Resumen: La ilimitada producción y mercantilización de las imágenes en la cultura contemporánea ha relegado el concepto de ‘imagen’ a una forma superficial, estilizada y efímera de representación artística y de comunicación visual.
